Spartan Pattern — Lakeside, Montana
Pattern Engineering & Tooling
Precision foundry patterns, core boxes, and production tooling from Spartan Pattern in Lakeside, Montana. CNC machining, 3D sand printing, MAGMA simulation, and CAD/CAM engineering. Built for victory.
Foundry Patternmaking & Tooling
Spartan Pattern is the engineering and tooling arm of the Anderson Foundries network. We produce wood, urethane, and metal patterns, core boxes, and match plates for foundries across the United States. Every pattern is engineered for castability — not just geometry.
What We Build
Pattern & Tooling Capabilities
CNC Pattern Machining
High-precision CNC machining of wood, urethane, and metal patterns. Tight tolerances, complex geometries, and production-grade surface finish.
Core Boxes
Shell core boxes, cold box tooling, and no-bake core boxes. Engineered for repeatable, dimensionally accurate cores.
MAGMA Simulation
Casting process simulation before the first pour. We optimize gating, risering, and solidification to eliminate shrinkage and porosity.
3D Sand Printing
Rapid prototype cores and molds via 3D sand printing. Ideal for first articles, complex internal geometry, and short-run production.
CAD/CAM Engineering
Full CAD/CAM capability from customer print or 3D model. We engineer for castability, not just geometry.
Match Plates & Flask Tooling
Match plates, cope and drag patterns, and flask tooling for green sand and no-bake foundry applications.
How We Work
From CAD to Production-Ready Tooling
01
Print & CAD Review
We review your print or 3D model and identify parting lines, draft angles, core requirements, and gating strategy.
02
MAGMA Simulation
For complex or critical parts, we run MAGMA casting simulation to optimize the tooling design before machining begins.
03
CAD/CAM Programming
Our engineers program CNC toolpaths from your model. Every pattern is engineered for castability and dimensional accuracy.
04
CNC Machining
Patterns and core boxes are machined on our CNC equipment. Wood, urethane, and metal materials available.
05
Finishing & Coating
Patterns are finished, coated, and inspected. Parting surfaces, draft angles, and core prints are verified.
06
Trial Casting & Delivery
Trial castings are poured at Dakota Foundry or Muncie Castings. Tooling is adjusted as needed, then shipped to your foundry.
